Arabic Primer : Sir Arthur Cotton : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive:

.
The Arabic Primer contains only the simplest and most basic Arabic words. It allows the student to gain a foundational knowledge of the sounds and expressions of the Arabic language. Having mastered this work, the student can continue to develop his or her knowledge of Arabic through more advanced textbooks. (Summary by Nicholas James Bridgewater)

It is advisable to LISTEN to section one "Direction for using the books."
THE OPEN LIBRARY: http://openlibrary.org/books/OL23511603M/Arabic_Primer_Consisting_of_180_Short_Sentences_Containing_30_Primary_Words

Arabic Primer  of Sir Arthur Cotton  is  very important  to learn how to pronounce the word, sentence, without going to any grammar explination just like any child learning a language. .However,  there are few books teaching  Arabic differently such as Ahlan wa Sahlan   http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ahlan-Sahlan-Functional-Standard-Beginners/dp/0300122721/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1337347238&sr=1-1
 or Alkittab al assasi http://www.amazon.co.uk/Al-Kitab-Al-asasi-Al-lugha-Al-arabiya-Al-natiqin/dp/9774162315/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1337347407&sr=1-1-spell
But in my opinion Alif Baa: An Introduction to Arabic Letters and Sounds  is state -of- the- art-book  in learning and teaching Arabic.., there is new edition(2012) take a look inside this book   http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alif-Baa-Introduction-Al-Kitaab-Language/dp/1589016327 this book  has different Arabic dialects too.
The dialect will enable you to communicate with native speaker of most Arab countries. When you get this book you will hear  the proper pronounciation of the word "TUFADDUL"  which Sir Arthur mentioned in page 8 (pdf) and actually pronounced wrong by the speaker. Go a head and discover the wealth of the Arabic language.
